Ah, finally with some help of my own knowledge I got a huge jump and accomplished my goal of 80 sets of the 15:15 VO2 max protocol. Read last post so you know what the 15:15 actually is. Here is the breakdown then I will tell you what I did different from last week.
Here is how it went down:
- July 2 = 27 sets
- July 7 = 31 sets (+15%)
- July 11 = 40 sets (+30%)
- July 17 = 44 sets (+10%)
- July 24 = 52 sets (+20%) that’s a total of 354 snatches in 26 minutes
- August 4 = 40 sets (-22%)
- August 14 = 44 sets (+10%)
- August 18 = 80 sets (+80%) – 40 minutes interval snatch workout total of 560 snatches
Here is a list of thing I did different from all previous weeks. After all, I am a fitness trainer and a specialist in Performance Nutrition so I should have known better.
- Music – I pumped it up loud and used high energy aerobic music of 135 BPM
- Food – I ate egg whites and sprouted bread at 8am then some tropical trail mix at 10am for added energy
- Supplements – here is where it gets good…I used Parrillo Pro Carb powder and sipped on it through the 40 minute. John Parrillo is a genius. He says to do exactly what I did for endurance events and he is correct, it worked. PLUS I am not even tired.
- Mental – I think this is the best part – When I got to 40 sets and was not tired I said to myself I can keep going to 50 sets. At 60 sets I said OK I’m not tired and only 10 min left to finish so I just kept going. at 70 sets I knew I was going all the way because it was only another 5 min and I was done…and at 80 I was actually done.
My HR got up to 174. I sipped on Parrillo Pro Carb in betweek many of the sets, and just took my time with it and no worries, no hurries. It was pretty relaxing actually. Time for a huge lunch now
